October 21 – 27, 2007.

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Tue. 23:

Today is my last day off for several weeks. After tonight, I will work 9 days straight at the hotel. Then on Friday, Nov. 2nd, after I get off from my 9th night at work, I catch a bus to Nashville. I’m not bothered, though. This is exciting for me, for I’ve been waiting several weeks to get started. I’m quite happy to be moving forward.

Wed. 24:

I am starting 9 straight days at work tonight. I’m rested, excited, and- overall- happy. So, let us do what can to make the most of the opportunities we’ve been given, right?

On top of that, I am at my mom and dad’s house from today until Sun. While they are gone camping, they need someone to keep an eye on the place and take care of the animals, which I do enjoy. When I lived with them, the animals were my responsibility; so, it’s nothing really new to me.

I think it’s going to be nice to spend a few days at home. My favorite running course is there; it’s quiet, and open; the animals are fun to care for; and I sleep well there, for the most part.

Finally, I received a book on Thai culture today that I ordered a few weeks ago. I think it’s going to be a good read. Not only that, I really need the help. Thai culture is certainly different from Western culture. And, because I have a trip there in January planned, I need to be prepared. I don’t like the idea of going there and not treating the Thai people with the proper respect.

Fri. 26:

This morning, after I got off from work, I went to the bus station to pick up the tickets that I will need to travel between Crossville and Nashville, Tennessee. This time next week, I’ll be on the road, toward the TESL/TEFL class that I’m taking. I’m so very excited that I don’t even notice how tired I am.

Later in the day, I got a new shirt from Banana Republic. I’ve lost so much weight from running that none of my clothes fit, anymore; so, I’m having to replace my wardrobe (very expensive). Anyway, I’ve learned that there are but a few places I can shop now, because of the way different brands “cut” their clothes. I like Banana Republic because their clothes have a “slim cut.” They’re clothes are fitting and lack the bagginess of many clothiers.

Sat. 27:

Today was quite a busy day for me. There is so much to be done, and so little time for me to complete my planned tasks. Deadlines are quickly approaching.

October 14 – 20, 2007.

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I have to say, this was a rather quiet week for me. There were no major events, no problems, no excitement, whatsoever. Rather than call it boring, I prefer to say that it was peaceful.

Looking Forward to Next Week:

Next week should be rather like this past week, with but a few exceptions.

Following is a list of what I expect to attend to next week:

1.) Go to bus stop and purchase the bus tickets that I will need to travel back and forth between Crossville and Nashville for my 3 weeks of TESL/TEFL classes.

2.) Stay at parent’s house to keep an eye on it and the animals while parents are gone camping.

3.) Have my last day off on Tue. for about 6 weeks.

4.) Prepare for classes that occur the following week by confirming reservations, etc.

5.) Work on editing resume and upload relevant documents to the “Portfolio” on my website.

The biggest concern that I have for the upcoming week is the “fleshing out” of my online portfolio.

Slow Day, But Good Sleep.

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Today was a slow day. I say that because… well… I did little else other than sleep. Yesterday, I did not sleep at all, and the day before that, I slept but only a couple hours. So, I was quite tired after I got off from work.

A few days ago, I stopped drinking coffee… for a couple of reasons. One, I got to thinking that the copious amounts of caffeine I was consuming might be doing me more harm than good. Perhaps, it was one of the contributing factors to my lack of sleep. Also, and this isn’t nowhere nearly as important, it really stains your teeth. My teeth need work- no doubt about that- but they are clean and healthy; and I intend for them to stay that way.

I think that the previous couple of days sleep were so bad because of “coffee withdrawal.” I’m not sure there’s such a thing, but it felt like it was very real. After a couple of days of getting it out of my system, and getting use to it not being there, I actually slept- a sound, restful, peaceful sleep.

I really hope that there are more nights like that waiting for me. ;)

I Now Possess a Ticket to Thailand.

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I am now in the possession of a ticket that will let me board a plane bound for Bangkok, Thailand… by way of L.A., and Taipei.

I will be leaving on Jan 08, 2008 to see my dearest friend. We’ve talked about this trip for quite a while; so long, as a matter-of-fact, that it took me by surprise when I found that I was actually going to get to make it.

Yes, it has taken a while for me to make this trip, but until now, I was in no condition to make any trips, for school kept me unbelievably busy. Plus, all my money went toward that. But, although I was bogged down with school, I always felt I would visit my friend, sooner or later… it would just be a matter a time.

And time is the only thing that would keep me from her. She draws me like the Earth draws the Moon. I am caught in her pull, and there is no escaping for me (not that I would ever want to). Like the Moon without the Earth, without her, I would have no anchor- no spot in the whole of the Universe to settle peacefully.

As, I’ve said before, she moves me, and like my trip to Thailand, one can look at the new vitality of my life and trace it back to her.

Sister’s Birthday.

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Today is Sister’s (my sister’s nickname) birthday, on which she turns 27 years old. I’ll admit, I have a bad habit of ignoring birthday’s (even my own), but that doesn’t mean that I don’t “get it.”

Birthdays are important days, not just to those whose birthday it is, but to those of us who care about them. On their birthday, we get a chance to celebrate them, and I really do feel that we should take advantage of that opportunity.

As I said, today is my sister’s birthday. On this day, it occurs to me just how lucky I am to have her in my life. As we grow older, she becomes even more important to me.

Amanda (Sister) is one in a million- she truly is. She is the type of person who would walk through fire for you… and that is rare. I know that if I need to talk to anyone, especially if I’m feeling down (which doesn’t happen very often), I can turn to her. She will listen without judgment, and always makes me feel good.

Sister has a great husband and two wonderful children; I love them all. On this day, her birthday, we celebrate her family, as well, for they are a product of who she is. They are beautiful and good natured- each and every one.

On this day, we look back at the person that you have been. But, not only do we look back, we look forward. I see good things for you in your future. Whatever you set your mind to, I will do my best to help that come into being. On this day, I would like to tell you to dream. Dream for everything you have in you. As long as you do that, you will always have things to celebrate on your birthday.

Amanda, Oct. 11 is a date that I have never forgotten, nor will I ever forget it. It is a day etched onto my heart. Until my last day, I will celebrate Oct. 11, for it is most certainly a special day.

Got Outbid on Thailand Ticket.

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I just saw that my bid for the airplane ticket to Thailand was beat on Skyauction.com. Now, that may sound like bad news, but it isn’t.

As soon as I got outbid, I had another idea- a new strategy. Turns out that being outbid was the best thing that could have happened to me… the reason being that I found a much, much better priced ticket for the same time frame.

I am committed to this trip… it is going to happen. When I get off from work this morning, I will make my purchase (at a really good price). I wish that it weren’t rude to talk about such things, for I would love to tell you what I am paying- it’s that good.

I certainly ran into some very good luck, and I’ll take good fortune any day. Serendipity accounts for 3/4 of all the good things that happen in life, I believe. I was lucky on this plane ticket, as I was lucky to meet Noo-Dang. I have no problems with being lucky.

In the Process of Buying a Ticket to Thailand.

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

There is a website called Skyauction.com. On this particular site, one finds tickets they are looking for and bids on them, like on Ebay.

Just a few minuets ago, I placed my bid on a ticket to Bangkok, Thailand, and I’m very happy to say, I have the winning bid. There is still one more day left on the auction, but I placed a very competitive bid; so, I believe that I have a very good chance of winning. If I do win, I will have gotten quite a good deal. I just love it when that happens.

If I don’t win the auction, I have already got a fairly-priced ticket waiting on me. So, I am going to visit my dearest friend, no matter what happens with the auction. One should always have a back-up plan, and I have a back-up ticket as mine.

Keep your fingers crossed for my ticket bid.

Can’t Beleive How Late I Slept Tonight.

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I can not believe how late I slept tonight. I went to bed about 4:00 p.m. and got up at 1:30 a.m. That’s 9 1/2 hours!!!

I guess it makes sense, though. In one of my Psychology classes in college, I learned that the body “keeps a tab” on how much sleep you don’t get, and that it makes you catch up. Well, the past few weeks, I’ve not slept well at all. My average night was 3 to 4 hours sleep; and, several nights I never even went to bed (24 plus hours with no sleep on those nights).

So, it looks like my body is trying to get me caught up on sleep. Although, I feel guilty about using so much of my day sleeping, it does make me feel much, much better. Besides, if it were anyone else, I would tell them, “You need to sleep. Don’t be so hard on yourself; your body knows what it needs.” I’m going to take my own advice and let my body catch up on it’s sleep.

Yeah for sleep!!!!!

Almost Have My Groove Back.

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I’ve been back from NYC for 4 days now, and I’m about to get adjusted to being awake at nights again.

The past few days have been spent with little to no sleep. So, I’ve had to reconsider my schedule. Traditionally, I sleep in the morning (I work from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) from about 8:00 a.m. until some time after noon. But, here lately, I’ve been going to bed without ever falling asleep. I suppose it could be because I’m too “wound up” in the morning to rest. So, last night (or yesterday for the rest of the world), I waited till after 12:00 p.m. to lay down.

That worked. I went to bed at noon and didn’t get up until 9:00 p.m. That’s the most I’ve slept in months. For the past several weeks, I’ve only been averaging about 4 hours of sleep a night.

So, needles to say, I’m feeling a good deal better. A few more nights like that, and I’ll be good as new.
