I’m a Blessed Man… Even When Shopping for Socks.

Written on October 26, 2008 – 1:09 PM | by Dee |

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it agin, ” I can’t believe how my life has turned out.”

Yesterday, as Dang and I were out and about, I was walking behind her (because it was very crowded… too crowded to walk side-by-side), and she would look back with a smile every once-in-a-while. It was then, as it happens so often, that I was struck by the realization that I’m so very lucky.

Day in and day out, I get to spend my free time with the woman who is surely my soul-mate. In the time we spend together, we laugh, play, and talk about everything (even our deepest, most guarded secrets).

This woman not only keeps me from being lonely, she deepens the meaning and satisfaction of my life.

Often, I’ve heard the question posed, “Would you miss that which you never experienced?” For example, “What if you never met Dang? Would you still miss her?” My answer to that is, “Yes.”

See, I missed her before I ever met her. In my heart, I could feel the need for her. And, I believe that I was not simply longing for a mate, I was longing for her. Not only is there no other that can make my life as full as she, there never has been another possibility, other than her (even before we met almost four years ago).

Does it seem like I meandered way off topic from a glace on a date to eternal knowledge of your soul mate? Well, I didn’t. Here’s why: Even a glace back from her while shopping for socks has deep meaning and moves me. I can feel her energy, and being around her is like being around electrically-charged ozone.

Maybe, saying “I’m a lucky man” isn’t a true enough expression. Perhaps, it should be…

I’m a blessed man.
