Kimchi on the Way to the River
We were walking to the river Saturday evening, and, to our great and happy surprise, we happened across some good folk making Kimchi.
Kimchi is the national dish of Korea. If it isn’t, I think most Koreans would tell you that it should be. I’ve heard many times, “You can’t have a meal without rice and Kimchi.”
As we were passing, I decided that this would be great for our blog, so I wanted to take some photos. Papa suggested that we ask. After having done so, they said, “Sure,” and were happy to have someone taking an interest in their craft. There were smiles all around.
Large tubs full of layered cabbage, salt, and water (there is still oysters, for fermenting, and hot pepper)
Hard at work carrying out a centuries old tradition
Green onions for Kimchi (this is just one type of Kimchi)
Looks like a lot of work to me
