"Why No Blog, Blogging Blogger?"
“Why no blog, blogging blogger?”
Whew! That’s simple, yet exhausting, to answer.
I say it’s simple because it comes down to being physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. It’s exhausting because there are a plethora of reasons for the exhaustion.
First of all, I teach 35 class hours a week. If you’re a teacher, you know that’s a lot. If not, you’ll have to take my word for it. For each hour of teaching, you can expect an hour outside of class for preparation, which takes many forms; but, one way or the other, you’re going to put the time in.
Next, even though I have been in Korea for roughly seven months, there are always hurdles for the expat. Life gets easier, but it’s still not easy. So, there is still a lot of mental hurdles, along with emotional ones, such as being so far away from friends and family, to overcome.
And, finally, there have been the constant struggles that my wife and I have to face because of our marriage. Hey, it’s wonderful being married (I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world), but the life that we have chosen (and, in many ways, has chosen us) brings many, many new challenges for us to overcome.
A little overview of the new marital challenges Dang and I have been dealing with:
Dang is moving to Korea with me shortly. This has, as I’m sure you have already guessed, given us much to play with (Dang more so than me). First, there was securing her visa. Second, Dang had to resign from PWA, which they are dragging their feet with. Thirdly, my Love has to pack, move, or sell all of her stuff in Bangkok. These are all the worldly possessions that she has (I know from personal experience, this is draining).
I have just scratched the surface of all that is going on, but I think one can see the reasons for no recent blogs.
Don’t get me wrong, Dang and I happy and excited… I mean, really, who wouldn’t want our life? We are madly in love; we get paid to live overseas; we have options of working in many other places; I have graduate school at Harvard waiting; and Dang has her endeavors, like photography and an upcoming website.
I am a lucky man, but please understand if I fail to blog from time-to-time.
